Background
Moringa is a tree that has many properties that can be very profitable as a means of income generation. Economically, it is very lucrative asny part of the tree can be sold for money. The leaves, the bark, the roots and the wood are all known for its medicinal abilities.
Expected Results
It is expected that at the end of the workshop
- Participants would be able to gather enough information and skills to help them plant /have their own moringa farms
- Participants would be able to actually plant their own moringa seedlings
- Participants would know how to market their moringa products

- Nursing the moringa seedlings
- The right time in transplanting the seedlings
- Possible diseases that can affect the trees and how they can be managed
- Education on negotiation with possible buyers of products of Moringa

In all, 65 participants 5 each from the 13 network organisations would benefit from the workshop.
2-Day Workshop On Plantain Sucker In-Vivo Tissue Multiplication-Western Region Network
Workshop Objectives
The training workshop is aimed at developing networking members capacities to enable them become self sufficiency in plantain sucker in-vivo tissue culture multiplication.
Expected Results
As a result, workshop participants will be able to;
- Develop their own planting material from the following plantain varieties; Apem, asameinu oneiaba and nyeretia.
- Establish demonstration plot on sucker multiplication for local market.
- Participants acquired knowledge and skills will be used to train three (3) association members.
- Knowledge and skills in in-vivo tissue culture plantain multiplication would be enhanced.

The plantain sucker in-vivo tissue culture multiplication would focused on two main issues
- Split Corm Technique
- Nursery development

Thursday-Friday, 26th - 27th July, 2007 at Kadjabil in Ahanta West District.
Participants
Forty (40) participants, four each from 10 networking associations are to benefit from the workshop. Active members already engaged in plantain cultivation and new ones who have shown interest and have plans to cultivate plantain are being invited. The under listed groups have expressed interest.
“Workshop on Citrus Processing, Packaging and Marketing” for Eastern Region Network
Background
As part of the poverty reduction efforts for the small scale farmer, ECASARD Eastern region has identified forty (400 citrus ) farmers within the net work who are in citrus production have planned to organize workshop on processing the fruits to help them add value and minimixe post harvest losses and as well have realistic prices.
Workshop Objectives
- Create enabling environment for farmers to have better pricing
- Help them acquire skills in processing their produce to avoid post harvest loses
- to assist and improve the bargaining power of farmers
Expected Results
- Farmers would acquire skills in processing, packaging, and marketing
- Post harvest losses would be reduced
- Farmers’ income would improve.
