ECLOF-ECASARD COLLABORATION

Ecasard and ECLOF (Evangelical Church Loan Fund) collaboration came as a result of members’ request for loan assistance to enable them expand their farms and business having received enough training in these fields. The National coordinator knowing the vision and mission of ECASARD network saw it as a laudable idea and asked the executive director of ECLOF-Ghana to support Ecasard members

Upon numerous meeting with the farmer groups of ecasard, ECOF started its programme with Brong-Ahafo farmers. About   54 groups with 1500 members were served in 2004 disbursing a total amount of 2 billion cedis. Eastern Region also had their share in 2005, seventeen (17) groups with 229 members received cheques totaling 466,000,000

FIELD ASSESSMENT
ECASARD’s role is to prepare the members, assist in filling and collecting the forms, ECOF issues the cheques and monitors repayment.
ECLOF micro credit scheme has had a lot of impact, Ecasard groups are grateful for. Bodom unity farmers were able to expand their poultry farm; yam and potatoes farmers of Fiaso have also increased their farm land and their production. Several businesses were expanded making a real change in quality of the beneficiaries.

Unfortunately the bantama Group in Eastern experienced a bad scene when armed robbers snatched their group’s money after withdrawal from G.C.B in Oda. The future role of ecasard will be to further strengthen the groups and the ECLOF-cooperation and encourage members to repay their loan on time. We hope that other regions and more members can benefits from this opportunity next year.
